Let’s get this out of the way: I use AI. Not to replace creativity, but to support it.
I’m a human. I write my own stories, paint my own paintings, and build my own worlds. The core of my work—the characters, the voice, the dad jokes? Those come from me. They always have and always will.
But I’m also neurodivergent and juggling a thousand things at once most days. AI helps me manage the scaffolding: grammar checks, organizing timelines, breaking down big projects into smaller ones I can actually finish. It’s a tool, not a ghostwriter.
AI doesn’t make my work better, but it does make the work doable. And that distinction matters.
I don’t believe AI can replicate human imagination because it doesn’t imagine; it reflects the average of what it’s been fed. And while that’s occasionally useful, “average” is not where my work lives. I’m after something weirder, sharper, and more alive than any algorithm could generate.
So yes, I use AI. Not to create for me, but to make sure I can create. The stories? Those are mine. And yours.
